European Office Opened In Finland

MILWAUKEE – August 20, 2012 -- U-Line, the award-winning market leader in premium built-in undercounter ice making, refrigeration and wine preservation products, is expanding into the global marketplace with the opening of a European office.

Mark Russell, VP of Sales & Marketing, will oversee the company’s setup and operations in Europe as U-Line launches its Modular 3000 Series product line throughout the region. Russell said that maintaining an ongoing presence in Europe is imperative to establishing relationships and managing growth. A European manager will be hired prior to Russell’s return to the California office in the summer of 2013.

“We’ve been evaluating the European market for some time and it’s clear that there is a need for premium undercounter refrigeration and wine preservation products,” said Russell. “This market has been deprived of high-quality, premium undercounter options and I’m proud to say that with the launch of our Modular 3000 series, this will no longer be the case. Helsinki was named World Design Capital 2012 by the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design and Finland is a perfect hub as we expand internationally because of its close proximity to the rest of Europe, the Middle East and Russia.”

U-Line’s European office is based in the landmark Kone Building in Espoo, Finland, part of the Helsinki metropolitan area. Nokia, the telecommunications giant, is headquartered nearby, along with several other technology companies.

With corporate headquarters based in Milwaukee since 1962 and a West Coast office established in Laguna Beach, CA in 2006, the European office marks U-Line’s commitment to its continued growth and expansion as it moves into global markets.

A Dream For Interior Designers, The U-Line Modular 3000 Series Stylishly And Seamlessly Integrates Into Today’s Spaces With Unparalleled Ease

MILWAUKEE – June 29, 2012 – U-Line, the market leader in premium built-in undercounter refrigeration, ice making and wine preservation products, has expanded its award-winning Modular 3000 Series undercounter collection. The Modular 3000 Series marks a continuation of U-Line’s ongoing commitment to offering state-of-the-art products that enhance today’s lifestyles. U-Line celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, building on three generations of innovation.

“Today’s kitchens are being used in much more versatile ways,” said Jennifer Uihlein, president of U-Line. “People cook, of course, but now we have multiple cooks. We entertain, do homework, play games and even work on the home computer in the kitchen.” The traditional ‘working triangle’ kitchen is becoming a thing of the past.”

U-Line’s Modular 3000 Series beautifully blends in with virtually any environment and seamlessly integrates into standard 24-inch depth cabinet styles including overlay frames, inset or European/frameless. Concealed and covered hinges allow for zero clearance and flush installation. Toe-kicks and rear leveling systems are adjustable from the front of the unit for easy installation. Additional integration features include theater LED lighting, black interiors with graphite, tinted accents and thoughtful design elements for an elegant yet subtle space.

U-Line is proud to introduce 24” product and a clear ice maker to the Modular 3000 Series. The newest additions include:

3024RGL – 24” Glass Door Refrigerator

3024RF – 24” Solid Door Refrigerator

3024WC – 24” Wine Captain®

3024BEV – 24” Beverage Center

3018CLR – 18” Clear Ice Maker

The Right Product – Organize Your Space To Suit Your Lifestyle

The Modular 3000 Series installs seamlessly and fully integrates into all types of cabinetry. The 18-, 24- and 36-inch-wide glass door refrigerators offer tempered glass shelves that adjust to up to 11 positions, fully extendable crisper drawers and storage capacity of up to 120 12 oz. bottles or 254 12 oz. cans with the 36-inch model. Solid door refrigerators boast sizeable lower drawer bins that accommodate two one-gallon containers with extra room to spare. The Beverage Center combines a glass door refrigerator and a Wine Captain®. The new Modular 3000 Series clear ice ice maker makes up to 60 pounds of ice per day using as little as three gallons of water.

U-Line’s Modular 3000 Series Wine Captain® models offer precise refrigeration and maximum preservation. Each wine rack holds up to five wine bottles, while two racks per zone accommodate larger diameter bottles such as champagne and many of the newer Syrah and Pinot Noir bottles. U-Line’s unique wine rack design features solid beech wood trim with graphite finish to cradle bottles of various shapes and sizes safely in place.

The Right Place – The Kitchen and Beyond

Built-in undercounter refrigeration, ice making and wine preservation products expand counter space and add style and function to the kitchen, but they can also be used in many other rooms: the home office, media room, garage, bedroom and even in the bathroom to preserve cosmetics. Wines can be stored in the dining room.

The Right Temperature – Maintain And Preserve Food And Beverages Longer

U-Line’s U-Select™ Control system precisely chills food and beverages and maintains them at the perfect temperature. The Modular 3000 Series refrigerators offer five distinct U-Select™ Control modes: Deli, Market, Pantry, Root Cellar and Beverage. Each has an optimal set point within a designated temperature range that can be adjusted for personal preference. U-Line Wine Captain models store red, white or sparkling wine at each varietal’s ideal temperature for maximum preservation and enjoyment. A “quick chill” feature rapidly cools food and beverages to a desired setting for hosts who are short on preparation time.

The overlay-ready models accommodate a ¾ inch overlay panel or frame to integrate perfectly with overlay/face frame, inset or European/frameless cabinet styles.

U-Line’s Modular 3000 Series was designed from the ground up to integrate easily into existing cabinetry with a clean, modern and minimalist aesthetic. The zero clearance and flush installation of the 18 and 36 inch wide products is easily achieved with concealed and covered hinges, front ventilation system, adjustable and integrated toe-kick and door, and a rear leveling system that is adjustable from the front of the unit. What this means for the kitchen design is a finished look that is sleek and consistent. Even the overlay-ready toe-kick is adjustable vertically as well as front to back to align with the cabinet toe-kick.

With the growing popularity of frameless cabinetry styles the concealed hinges help the clean lines to continue throughout the kitchen. Additionally, U-Line has simplified the ability to fine tune the cabinet height and doors of the unit. U-Line’s Modular 3000 Series features rear levelers that are adjustable from the front of the unit. This innovative feature removes the guess work and maneuvering the unit back and forth while making adjustments. Having the ability to fine tune the overall unit and door height can be the determining factor for a flawless appearance between cabinetry and a modular appliance.

For those that want their built-in modular unit to stand out while still blending in with a flush application, U-Line offers a stainless steel model with a commercial style handle. Whether integrated with a custom overlay panel/frame or with stainless steel, the Modular 3000 Series’ simple elegance and clean lines will blend beautifully into any cabinet style.

Additional integration features such as the LED theater lighting, black interiors and graphite and tinted accents are thoughtful design elements that make an elegant but subtle statement. These features allow the Modular 3000 Series to blend in and fit seamlessly into your environment.

U-Line Announces the Passing of Company Founder Henry H. Uihlein

Milwaukee, WI (August 31, 2011) – U-Line Corporation, maker of premium undercounter ice makers, refrigerators, and wine preservation appliances sadly reports the passing of the company’s founder, Henry H. Uihlein.

Uihlein passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on August 30th. He had recently celebrated his 90th birthday – 90 years filled with great achievements, passion for life, and giving to others.

Henry Uihlein was an amazingly smart, intuitive and well respected business person as shown through the transition of Ben-Hur into the founding of U-Line in 1962. His approach to innovation, manufacturing, engineering, design, and sales provided the foundation from which a successful company was built and continues today. He led the company until his retirement in the early nineties.

Upon his retirement Uihlein put the company in the hands of his trusted sons and the wonderful and talented employees; all responsible for making the company so strong. Those who worked with Uihlein had the utmost respect for him. This respect was based on Uihlien’s care and consideration for his employees.

On behalf of the U-Line Corporation and its employees,Jennifer Uihlein, current President of U-Line Corporation and granddaughter of Henry Uihlein states, “We are all working here today because he took his innovative idea, a stand-alone ice maker, gathered his top 5 employees at Ben-Hur, and started U-Line.”

Jennifer Uihlein paid further tribute to her grandfather saying, “He truly lived a great and full life. My grandfather was an amazing athlete playing years of football and hockey. He loved the outdoors, horseback riding and the beautiful state of Montana; he was a true “Mountain Man.” He was silently philanthropic supporting many important local charities and causes, continuously giving back to the community in which he lived. He also helped many people start their own small businesses through SCORE. I continue to be amazed at how many people I meet that tell me that my grandfather was instrumental in helping them gain the resources, tools, and courage to follow their dreams and open their own business.”

On his 90th birthday, Henry Uihlein said that he had “travelled a million miles,” which is not hard to believe. Through his travels he touched the lives of many people. Most importantly, behind the athlete, mountain man, businessman and generous giver was a kind family man who loved his wife, sons, their wives, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He leaves behind innumerable individuals who are grateful he was in their lives. He taught each of them lessons and values that they shall never forget and leaves behind wonderful memories of a great man.

U-Line’s 3000 Series Delivers the Next Generation of Modular Refrigeration

Though undercounter refrigeration products have been available for years, U-Line has taken modular refrigeration to the next level with new designs that accommodate several cabinet configurations, provide versatile temperature controls based on food types, and combine dual functions into one unit. U-Line’s Modular 3000 Series puts refrigeration where it is needed most for a kitchen that is truly customized and functional.

Modular refrigeration allows a kitchen to be custom designed to fit all the needs of the homeowner. Essentially, modular refrigeration places “the right product in the right place at the right temperature.”

Modular refrigeration units can be placed anywhere in the home which means they will suit storage and design needs while providing greater convenience. A kitchen design that is intuitive to the end-user’s behavior just makes sense. That is why U-Line has focused on versatility as a means of achieving design solutions. An example of this is placing a refrigerator pre-programmed for fruits and vegetables next to the prep sink in the kitchen island. That can be achieved throughout the kitchen with modular units of varying designs that can be installed in areas that previously seemed impossible.

Beyond kitchen design and layout, the new modular refrigeration units feature the latest in sophisticated temperature controls and specialized food zones. Imagine a refrigerator unit that can be set to create the perfect temperature for select food types like deli items, produce, pantry items, or a virtual root cellar. The same customized temperature setting also allows for perfect storage of beverages from cold beer and soda to cellaring your prized wine collection.

Modular refrigeration also lends itself to advancing universal design. Undercounter placement as well as versatile door and drawer configurations can be used to suit the specific needs of a wide range of consumers.

Introducing U-Line’s Modular 3000 Series

Summer 2011 marked the introduction of the new Modular 3000 Series – U-Line’s newest evolution in modular refrigeration. The products will be available to the public in October. The Modular 3000 Series incorporates 18” and 36” wide appliances that integrate into various cabinetry styles while providing design flexibility and immediate access to food and beverages.

The new Modular 3000 Series models make it possible to build a custom undercounter configuration that meets the homeowner’s lifestyle and specific refrigeration needs – be it multiple cooks in the kitchen, entertaining, children in the household, or just additional quick and easy access to the most commonly used items.

The 36” Modular 3000 Series models feature U-Line’s first dual-zone/dual-capability units. This is exemplified by the 36” Glass Door Refrigerator/Wine Captain® that puts a refrigerator and a wine preservation unit side-by-side. All of the Modular 3000 Series models integrate easily into existing cabinetry with a clean, modern , and minimalist aesthetic. These appliances fully integrate with overly/face frame cabinets, inset cabinets, and European/frameless cabinet styles, and they install seamlessly into standard 24” depth cabinet bases. All Modular 3000 Series products are available in a stainless steel finish or an overlay option that provides the simplest method of adding custom wood panels or frames for a truly integrated installation. Design features such as an adjustable and overlay-ready toe-kick, black interior with LED theater lighting, full extension storage bins and wine racks, glass shelves, and ergonomic touch controls add to the versatility and universal design capabilities of these appliances.

The 3000 Series is exemplified by the U-Select™ Control system that allows users to choose settings that correspond to the types of food and beverages they store – keeping food fresher longer and tasting better by providing the perfect preservation environments. Each mode comes with a pre-set temperature range and optimal set point that can be adjusted to suit the user’s preferences. The U-Select™ Control Quick Chill feature rapidly chills food and beverages at the lowest temperature setting in each mode for a designated period of time. This feature is available in all modes except Red Wine. Complete service diagnostics are also available via the U-Select™ controls and USB port.

The Modular 3000 Series includes these new appliances:

36” Wine Captain®/Wine Captain® (3036WCWC) – Two door, dual-zone Wine Captain® wine preservation (holds up to 62 wine bottles* and designed to accommodate wide base bottles)

U-Line Achieves Highest Energy-Efficient Rating

MILWAUKEE (April 16, 2009) — As an increasing number of consumers demand “green” products, companies are responding with environmentally friendly solutions. To demonstrate our dedication to the environment, U-Line continues to produce the most efficient models possible. In addition to being ENERGY STAR rated, the Consortium for Energy Efficiency (CEE) just awarded U-Line a Tier 3 rating – the highest energy efficiency rating available – for two of its refrigerator models.

Both the Échelon 2175R and Origins 1175R met the stringent criteria set forth by the CEE for this high rating. According to the CEE, a product that attains a Tier 3 rating is 30 percent more efficient than the federal standard.

Both refrigerators outperform the federal standard of 425 KwHr/yr to achieve the high rating. The 2175R runs at 246 KwHr/yr, meaning it costs a homeowner $26* a year to run the unit. The 1175R runs at 259 KwHr/yr, costing a homeowner $28* a year.

The 2175R is 24 inches in width and has a capacity of 5.7 cubic feet. It features automatic defrost and Touch Control Digital Technology that makes setting and seeing the temperature easy. The model is available in black, white, stainless steel, with an optional ¾ inch full overlay panel, or it accepts a ¼ inch insert door panel. The stainless steel model is deemed suitable for outdoor use by Underwriters Laboratory (UL).

The 1175R is also 24 inches in width with a capacity of 5.7 cubic feet. It features automatic defrost and a push button digital control. The model is available in black, white, stainless steel, or it accepts a ¼ inch insert door panel.

U-Line also produces two other ENERGY STAR rated refrigerators that have a CEE Tier 1 rating, which requires the product be 20 percent more efficient than the federal standard.

The Échelon 2115R, a 15 inch refrigerator with 3.3 cubic feet, runs at 304 KwHr/yr. The annual cost to a homeowner is $33* to run the unit. The refrigerator has automatic defrost and Touch Control Digital Technology. It is available in black, white, stainless steel, with an optional ¾ inch full overlay panel, or it accepts a ¼ inch insert door panel. Like the 2175R, the stainless steel model is deemed suitable for outdoor use by UL.

The Origins 29R runs at 312 KwHr/yr, costing a homeowner $34* to run it for one year. This is a 21-inch ADA unit with a capacity of 3.5 cubic feet. It has automatic defrost and a mechanical dial control. The unit is available in black, white, or it accepts a ¼ inch insert door panel.

U-Line also offers other energy efficient models. For example, the Échelon BI-2115 ice maker. Conserving water and electricity, this unit uses less than three gallons of water to produce and store up to 25 lbs of ice, and it requires less electricity than a 75-watt light bulb to do so. The BI-2115 is available in black, white, stainless steel, with an optional ¾ inch full overlay panel, or it accepts a ¼ inch insert door panel. Again, the stainless steel model is deemed suitable for outdoor use by UL.

For rebates on these and other ENERGY STAR products, please contact your local utilities company.

Since 1962, U-Line Corporation has been the leading innovator of premium built-in, undercounter ice makers, Combo® ice maker/refrigerators, Wine Captain® wine preservation appliances, refrigerators, refrigerated drawers and refrigerator/freezers. U-Line is headquartered in Milwaukee, Wis., and has a West Coast office in Laguna Beach, Calif.

*Annual cost is calculated under test conditions set forth by the Code of Federal Regulations to simulate average energy use.

(MILWAUKEE — Sept. 29, 2008) Rather than going to the kitchen for a cold drink or a snack, homeowners are opting that the kitchen come to them.

“Today’s home design is about living comfortably in every room,” remarks Jennifer Uihlein, president of U-Line Corporation (www.u-line.com), manufacturer of premium built-in, undercounter appliances for ice making, refrigeration and wine preservation. “Adding appliances in areas of the home used for entertaining or enjoying family time provide the convenience of having what you need where and when you need it.”

Satellite kitchens or snack centers are popular additions in rooms where families and friends gather. Whether game day or movie night, a satellite kitchen makes serving beverages, preparing snacks and cleaning up afterward much easier than multiple trips back and forth to the kitchen.

For cold drinks and plenty of ice, U-Line’s Clear Combo® model, a combination clear ice maker/refrigerator, provides space for beverages and makes up to 40 pounds of clear ice cubes a day. U-Line’s stylish Refrigerator Drawer provides unique organizational features that maximize storage possibilities, from beverages and food items to 2-liter bottles and party platters. When the occasion calls for celebration, U-Line’s Beverage Centers provide two wine racks for up to 16 bottles and glass shelves below for other beverages. Wine is stored at approximately 45 degrees Fahrenheit while other drinks are chilled to 38 degrees.

Perhaps more than any other appliance, refrigerators are turning up in nearly every room in the home. A refrigerator in the home gym is at the ready with bottled water, sport drinks and protein shakes; kid-friendly drinks and snacks in the teen retreat or study area; and cold drinks in the workshop or garage. Refrigerators have even migrated into the master suite and master bath where, in addition to storing beverages, they are also used to preserve cosmetics and medications.

Appliances also offer all the comforts of home to the great outdoors. U-Line’s complete line of outdoor appliances provides ice, refrigeration and freezer capabilities for the outdoor kitchen, keeping cold drinks at hand, food ready for the grill, and guests happy and relaxed.

For more information about lifestyle appliances, visit www.u-line.com.

If a specific temperature is preferred, each U-Select setting can be customized to the degree within an allowable range.

A digital display and touch control panel provides the temperature for each zone and puts the ability to select or change a setting right at your fingertips.
U-Line Introduces A New Dual-Zone Wine Captain® Cabinet

-Two independent temperature zones and new U-Select settings allow total storage flexibility-

April 11, 2008 — U-Line Corporation, leading innovator of premium built-in, undercounter appliances for ice making, refrigeration and wine preservation, announces the introduction of its new 2275ZWC Dual-Zone Wine Captain® Cabinet. Two distinct temperature zones, each cooled and controlled independently, allow total flexibility for personal preference and changing wine storage needs.

“Wine enthusiasts understand the importance of a properly controlled storage environment, but may also want to keep different varietals at serving temperatures of their own personal preference,” remarks Jennifer Uihlein, president of U-Line Corporation. “U-Line’s new Dual-Zone Wine Captain Cabinet provides the solution with two independently controlled, stable temperature zones that are set to a homeowner’s exact specifications.”

The Dual-Zone Wine Captain Cabinet allows individuals to customize their unit according to their preferred temperatures and changing needs. Inside the cabinet, the upper and lower zones are highly specialized, independently refrigerated chambers with separate temperature control capabilities. For those with specific temperature preferences, each zone can be independently set from 34 to 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Or U-Line’s new U-Select temperature settings will eliminate the guesswork of selecting proper serving temperatures by providing them at the touch of a button. Four pre-programmed temperature settings— one each for red, white and sparkling wines, plus an alternative beverage setting — simplifies the process and ensures that wines are chilled appropriately. Each U-Select setting can also be customized within a specific range to maintain a preferred temperature. U-Select settings and allowable ranges are based on ideal serving temperatures and safe storage conditions. For example:
•	the red wine setting is programmed at 55 degrees Fahrenheit, but can be set from 50 to 60 degrees;
•	the white wine setting is 50 degrees, but can be set from 45 to 55 degrees;
•	the sparkling wine setting is 45 degrees, but can be set from 40 to 50 degrees;
•	the beverage setting is 38 degrees, but will allow temperatures from 34 to 60 degrees.

In the center of the cabinet, the digital display and touch control panel provides the temperature for each zone and puts the ability to select or change a setting right at your fingertips.

The classic style of the Dual-Zone Wine Captain Cabinet features a tinted, thermal-tempered glass door that allows a clear view of the bottles inside while preventing harmful UV light rays from penetrating the cabinet. The black interior creates a dramatic backdrop for the natural wood faced wine racks. Each sliding rack extends fully out of the cabinet so that every bottle is easily reached and removed. A newly designed wine caddy situated in the bottom of the cabinet slides out of the unit to transport three bottles to another destination. In all, the 24-inch-wide model provides storage for up to 43 standard .75 ml bottles.

The Dual-Zone Wine Captain Cabinet is available in a sleek stainless steel finish with a contoured door handle. An optional commercial style door handle is also available. For those who prefer a fully integrated look for appliances, the Dual-Zone Wine Captain Cabinet can be fitted with a custom-made, full overlay wood door frame to match existing cabinetry.

U-Line products, including the Dual-Zone Wine Captain Cabinet, are available nationwide at select kitchen design centers and appliance retailers.

Toast The Holidays With The Perfect Glass Of Wine

-Wine appliances guarantee proper storage conditions and serving temperatures-

Red and white just might be the new colors of Christmas. Americans are drinking more wine than ever; an estimated 259 million cases in 2006 according to the Wine Market Council. Chances are good that your cup of holiday cheer will be filled with a cabernet or chardonnay this year. But before you raise your glass in a toast, are you certain that you’re serving your guests an optimal wine experience?

Storage conditions and serving temperature can greatly impact a wine’s taste. Wine that is kept at too warm a temperature will age prematurely; stored too cold and deposits or other suspensions can develop inside the bottle. A lack of humidity will cause corks to dry out allowing air in. Ultraviolet light can taint the aroma and ruin the bottle entirely. Served at the wrong temperature, the individual characteristics of each wine will be lost.

“There are many nuances to storing and serving wine that can intimidate enthusiasts of every level,” remarks Jennifer Uihlein, president of U-Line Corporation, manufacturer of Wine Captain® wine preservation appliances. “Today’s wine storage appliances eliminate confusion by providing proper storage conditions and preferred serving temperatures so that wine is always ready to be enjoyed.”

The Wine Captain was the first residential appliance of its kind, introduced to the North American market in 1985. Today U-Line offers the most innovative line of undercounter wine preservation systems available, including cabinet and drawer models.

The classic 24-inch-wide cabinet style Wine Captain stores up to 48 bottles in a triple temperature zone environment. The lower, middle and upper sections of the cabinet’s interior each maintain separate temperatures from 40 to 60 degrees Fahrenheit to house sparkling, white and red wines appropriately at their optimal serving temperatures. All Wine Captain products provide a stable temperature environment, maintain 50 percent relative humidity, are vibration safe, and block UV light rays with tinted, thermal-tempered glass, creating cellar-like conditions in convenient, stylish appliances.

The Wine Captain Drawer offers the ultimate in flexibility for whatever your wine storage needs may be. A single unit with two drawers, each drawer maintains a stable environment while providing the added convenience of independent temperature control. Depending on personal preference, each drawer can be set separately between 40 and 60 degrees. Reds could be kept at 58 degrees in the upper drawer, while whites chilled below at 48 degrees. As storage needs change, the temperature is easily adjusted with
U-Line’s Touch Control digital technology. The Wine Captain Drawer accommodates up to 43 bottles.

All Wine Captain models conform to standard cabinet sizes. Measuring just 15 or 24 inches wide, a Wine Captain can easily replace an existing cabinet or be included in a remodel or new design. Wine Captains are available at select kitchen design centers and appliance retailers nationwide.

Since 1962, U-Line Corporation has been the leading innovator of premium built-in, undercounter ice makers, Combo® ice maker/refrigerators, Wine Captain® wine storage units, refrigerators, refrigerated drawers and refrigerator/freezers.
Undercounter Appliances Evolve From Doors to Drawers

-New appliance drawer systems break the mold offering style, storage and convenience-

MILWAUKEE — A revolution is happening underneath the countertop. Where once there were doors, now there are drawers. Drawers that refrigerate, make ice, store frozen foods and even chill wine. Today’s hottest appliances have broken out of the box and are redefining the way Americans outfit their kitchens and homes.

U-Line Corporation, leading innovator of premium built-in, undercounter appliances for ice making, refrigeration and wine preservation, offers a complete line of undercounter drawer systems as part of its premier Échelon Series, including a Refrigerator Drawer, Combo® Drawer and Wine Captain® Drawer.

“Drawers offer an exciting and stylish twist on traditional appliances,” remarks Jennifer Uihlein Straszewski, president of U-Line Corporation. “Today’s updated undercounter look follows a horizontal design trend that opts for more drawers versus cabinets with doors. Drawers have an aesthetic edge, and are highly functional and more convenient to use.”

The undercounter drawer trend continues to gain momentum because of the convenience drawers offer, especially in the kitchen. Drawers designed for organizing and storing special items, such as spices or cookware, can be much more functional than their cabinetry counterparts. When opened, drawers instantly reveal their contents at a glance and make organization and accessibility an easy task.

Appliance drawers are designed to provide the same convenience. They ease organization and storage of important food items, and simplify the retrieval process by keeping everything visible and within arms reach. Refrigerated drawers in the prep area are ideal for storing produce, fresh herbs and specialty items at the point of use. Drawers that also provide ice making and freezer storage are ideal in living and entertaining areas outside of the kitchen, and wine storage drawers are the ultimate in wine preservation appliances.

Each two-drawer appliance system from U-Line features high-end design elements and the flexibility to customize any model to fit specific needs and preferences. Stainless steel models feature stainless drawer frames or fronts, elegant contoured handles affixed horizontally on each drawer, black interiors, and touch control digital technology to simplify seeing and setting the temperature. If preferred, an optional commercial-style drawer handle is also available.

For homeowners who choose to completely integrate appliances into a room’s overall design, a separate overlay model is available for each drawer system. Each Drawer Overlay model is designed to accept a custom-made full overlay wood drawer frame to match the surrounding cabinetry in the home.

Refrigerator Drawer
Organization is a defining design element of U-Line’s 2275DWRR Refrigerator Drawer. The top drawer comes complete with an exclusive organizational divider that is easily adjusted to the configuration of the drawer’s contents. A top-mounting clear storage bin provides extra space for food as well as 2-litre bottles or bottles of wine. The lower drawer includes a convenient clear crisper drawer situated under a glass shelf that is removable for storage of taller items.

Combo® Drawer – Refrigerator/Freezer/Ice Maker
U-Line’s C2275DWR Combo Drawer combines refrigeration, freezer space, and ice making and storage capabilities. Reserved for refrigeration only, the upper drawer features exclusive organizational tools that allow homeowners to customize the drawer for their changing storage needs. In the lower drawer, the frost-free ice maker produces up to six pounds of ice a day and stores 10 pounds. The freezer space accommodates a variety of items including half gallons of ice cream.

Wine Captain® Drawer
New design elements make U-Line’s 2275DWRW Wine Captain Drawer one of today’s most sophisticated appliances. Newly enhanced stainless steel frames on both glass drawer fronts and new black drawer interiors create a dramatic presentation of the bottles inside. Tinted, thermal-tempered glass prevents potentially harmful UV light rays from penetrating the cabinet. Sliding wine racks and a removable wine caddy are trimmed in natural maple that can be custom stained to match existing cabinetry.

Each drawer is a highly specialized, independently refrigerated unit with separate temperature control capabilities. The top and bottom drawers can be set to maintain their own unique temperatures between 40 and 60 degrees Fahrenheit, providing flexible storage options for different types of wine. New digital temperature displays are now located in each drawer, handsomely integrated into the wood rack fronts. Touch control digital technology puts the ability to adjust the temperature of either drawer right at your fingertips.

All U-Line drawer systems are available nationwide at select kitchen design centers and appliance retailers.

Since 1962, U-Line Corporation has been the leading innovator of premium built-in, undercounter ice makers, Combo® ice maker/refrigerators, Wine Captain® wine storage units, refrigerators, refrigerated drawers and refrigerator/freezers.

-Stylish storage, ample space and optimal serving temperatures for wine and beverages-

MILWAUKEE — U-Line Corporation, leading innovator of premium built-in, undercounter appliances for ice making, refrigeration and wine preservation, announces the introduction of a new Beverage Center to its Échelon Series product line.

"Today’s appliances are designed to make living spaces more livable with convenience, style and technology," remarks Jennifer Uihlein Straszewski, president of U-Line Corporation. "The new Échelon Series Beverage Center takes a basic appliance concept and transforms it into a beautiful, multi-functional tool anywhere in the home."

The newest addition to U-Line’s premier Échelon Series product line, the 2175BEV Beverage Center keeps drinks perfectly chilled at optimal serving temperatures. Whether for entertaining or everyday use, the Beverage Center provides ample shelf space for bottles or cans, and includes a distinct zone for wine preservation.

The model’s exterior features a glass door framed in stainless steel. An elegant stainless door handle affixed vertically on the frame adds architectural interest with gently contoured lines. To change the look, an optional commercial-style door handle is available for purchase.

For homeowners who prefer to completely integrate appliances into a room’s overall design, a separate Beverage Center Overlay model is available. The overlay model is designed to accept a custom-made full overlay wood door frame to match the surrounding cabinetry in the home.

While providing a view of the interior, the glass door is also designed to prevent UV light rays from penetrating the cabinet. The cabinet’s elegant black interior creates a dramatic backdrop for the beverages inside.

Inside the cabinet are two sliding wine racks and two glass shelves. Wine racks are located in the upper portion of the cabinet where a higher temperature ideal for wine preservation is maintained. Rack fronts are enhanced with subtly arched natural maple fronts that can be custom stained to match surrounding cabinetry. The vinyl-coated racks hold bottles securely in place and provide storage for up to 16 standard .75 ml bottles.

Below the wine racks are two glass shelves for the storage of additional beverages. The shelves accommodate up to 63 12-ounce cans or 40 12-ounce bottles including long necks.

Maintaining optimal serving temperatures for different beverage types is another feature that differentiates U-Line’s Échelon Series Beverage Center. The wine storage zone maintains an approximate temperature of 45 degrees Fahrenheit, within the recommended range for serving either white or red wines. The lower portion of the cabinet where cans and bottles are stored maintains a cooler 38 degrees, providing beer and other beverages at a preferred serving temperature.

Touch control digital technology provides accurate temperature readings and allows homeowners to easily make slight adjustments up or down to their desired setting.

The new Échelon Series Beverage Center is available now at select kitchen design centers and appliance retailers nationwide.

"U-Line first introduced residential wine storage appliances to the North American market in 1985," remarks Jennifer Uihlein Straszewski, president of U-Line Corporation. “For more than 20 years, the Wine Captain has evolved in terms of design and technology to lead this important appliance category. Today, the new Wine Captain Drawer offers innovation, sophistication and excitement to residential wine preservation.”

The Wine Captain Drawer features a new look with stainless steel trim framing two glass-front drawers. Designed to provide a view of the bottles inside while protecting them from potentially harmful light, the tinted, thermal-tempered glass prevents UV rays from penetrating the cabinet. Contoured stainless handles affixed horizontally on each drawer add an elegant touch to the exterior. To conform to specific design needs, an optional commercial-style drawer handle is also available for purchase.

For homeowners who prefer to completely integrate appliances into a room’s overall design, a separate Wine Captain Drawer Overlay model is available. The overlay model is designed to accept custom-made full overlay wood drawer frames to match surrounding cabinetry.

The Wine Captain Drawer is equally impressive on the inside. The elegant black interior creates an ideal backdrop for showcasing the bottles. Each sliding wine rack is enhanced with natural maple trim that reflects the same gently contoured lines as the drawer handles. The wood fronts of each wine rack can be custom stained to match existing cabinetry. Three wine racks in the top drawer and two racks plus a removable wine caddy in the lower drawer provide storage for up to 43 standard bottles.

Each drawer is a highly specialized, independently refrigerated unit with separate temperature control capabilities. The top and bottom drawers can be set to maintain their own unique temperatures between 40 and 60 degrees Fahrenheit, providing flexible storage options for different types of wine. New digital temperature displays are located in each drawer, handsomely integrated into the wood rack fronts. Touch control digital technology puts the ability to adjust the temperature of either drawer right at your fingertips.

Like each of U-Line’s Wine Captain models, the Wine Captain Drawer is designed to enable short and longer term wine storage. A vibration-safe, stable temperature environment with 50 percent internal relative humidity provides cellar-like conditions in a sophisticated appliance suitable for every home.

New Design And Performance Innovations From U-Line Elevate Undercounter Ice Making, Refrigeration And Wine Storage

MILWAUKEE - U-Line Corporation, leading manufacturer of premium built-in, undercounter ice making, refrigeration and wine storage appliances, introduced its latest innovations in design and technology today at the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show in Chicago. New contemporary design elements with classic appeal and advanced digital technology enhance the aesthetics and functionality of the high-end appliance line.

“For more than 40 years, U-Line’s constant commitment to innovation has advanced our products and set new standards in the industry,” explains Phil Uihlein, president of U-Line Corporation. “By evolving design elements and adding new features, we are able to offer the most distinctive class of undercounter ice making, refrigeration and wine storage models available in both style and performance.”

New design and performance innovations span models in both of U-Line’s product lines. The Échelon Series, U-Line’s premier product class, exudes style and status with premium features. Now with new design elements and state-of-the-art technology, its performance, functionality, and quality are unmatched. The Origins Series offers a selection of classic models that built the U-Line brand. With new refined styling and feature additions, Origins Series models raise the standard for all other products in its class.

Ice Makers
Two Échelon Series ice makers transform ice into a luxury item. The commercial grade CLR2160 Clear Ice Maker provides perfectly-shaped cubes of crystal clear ice. Producing up to 60 pounds of ice a day and storing up to 30 pounds, it boasts the highest daily ice production of any ice maker in its class. New Touch Control digital technology allows the homeowner to adjust ice thickness, temporarily turn off ice production, and initiate the self-cleaning process. Additionally, in case a door is left ajar, the digital controller will automatically activate an alarm alerting the homeowner. Conveniently located inside the cabinet, the digital control unit is easily activated with the touch of a fingertip.

The BI-2115 Ice Maker produces and stores up to 25 pounds of crescent-shaped ice a day. This model does not require a drain, making installation convenient in any area of the home.

Doors feature newly designed handles that enhance the overall look. Integrated door handles on the black and white models create a seamless appearance. Stainless steel models feature an elegant contoured handle that extends vertically from nearly top to bottom of the door. For homeowners who prefer to integrate appliances into the overall design scheme, doors can be outfitted with either a full overlay custom cabinetry panel or a 1/4-inch custom panel insert allowing them to match surrounding cabinets. Beneath the doors, new flush grille fronts have been recessed and finished in the same color as the unit making them virtually invisible.

Combo Models
Combination ice making/refrigeration models unite two important appliances in one convenient, stylish unit. Exclusive to U-Line, the CLRCO2175 Clear Combo® combines the luxury of clear ice cubes with 2.5 cubic feet of refrigeration storage in just 24 inches of space. It produces up to 40 pounds of ice a day, stores up to 15 pounds and never requires defrosting. The CO2175FF Combo® provides 4.2 cubic feet of refrigeration space including a crisper drawer and produces up to eight pounds of crescent-shaped ice a day. The ice storage bin will hold up to 13 pounds. Frost-free technology means that defrosting the unit is not necessary.

New Touch Control digital technology puts the ability to set and see refrigeration temperature, suspend ice production, and more right at the homeowner’s fingertips. To prevent food spoilage and ice melting, an open door alarm alerts the homeowner. Newly designed integrated door handles on black and white units create a seamless appearance. A contoured door handle provides an element of art to the exterior of the stainless steel model. Both Combo models are designed to accept full overlay custom door fronts or 1/4-inch custom panel inserts for design integration. New flush grille fronts finished in the same color as the unit and recessed beneath the door front are unnoticeable.

Refrigerators
Two Échelon Series refrigerators provide maximum storage space and advanced technology. The 24-inch-wide 2175R Refrigerator provides 5.7 cubic feet of refrigeration space with a clear crisper drawer, while the 15-inch-wide 2115R Refrigerator offers 3.3 cubic feet of storage for smaller spaces. Both feature fully encapsulated, contoured glass shelves that contain spills and adjustable in-door storage able to hold larger items.

New to each model, Touch Control digital technology makes seeing and setting the refrigeration temperature easy. If a door is ever left ajar, an alarm will sound alerting the homeowner. New integrated door handles on black and white models provide a clean look, while a contoured handle on stainless steel models is an elegant addition. Flush grille fronts are finished in the same color as the unit so that they go unnoticed.

Both Échelon Series models are designed to accept either full overlay custom door fronts or 1/4-inch custom panel inserts allowing them to match existing cabinetry.

Two Origins Series models maximize form and function. The 1175R Refrigerator measures 24 inches wide and provides 5.7 cubic feet of space, while the 1115R Refrigerator is 15 inches wide with 3.3 cubic feet of storage capacity.

New to each model, push button digital controls allow the homeowner to easily see and set their
desired temperature. Interiors boast new tempered glass shelves and adjustable in-door storage.

Inspired by the look of commercial-grade appliances, the Origins Series design is defined by clean, straight lines and subtle embellishments. New integrated door handles run horizontally across the top of black and white models. A bold new stainless steel door handle adds a strong visual element to all stainless models. Grille fronts are recessed and flat providing better integration into the overall design.

Refrigerator/Freezer
The 24-inch-wide 2175RF Refrigerator/Freezer combines 4.2 cubic feet of refrigeration space with 1.5 cubic feet of freezer space. Designed for function, the vertical freezer compartment maximizes space and allows the storage of items such as a half gallon of ice cream and frozen pizzas. Refrigeration space features fully encapsulated glass shelves, adjustable in-door shelves and a clear crisper drawer. Frost-free technology eliminates the need to defrost the unit.

Part of the Échelon Series product line, new Touch Control digital technology simplifies monitoring and adjusting the refrigeration temperature. New integrated door handles on black and white units provide a seamless door front. Stainless steel models benefit from the addition of a new contoured door handle. The model will also accept a full overlay custom door panel or 1/4-inch custom panel insert if design integration is preferred. A flush grille front has been recessed and finished to match the unit.

Drawer Systems
The evolution of appliances from doors to drawers is evident with U-Line’s innovative and original Échelon Series drawer systems. The 2175DWRR Refrigerator Drawer provides unlimited storage and organization capabilities. U-Line’s unique Slide & Divide organizational tool allows you to customize each drawer to fit specific needs, and easily reconfigure the drawer’s interior layout when its contents change. A top-mounting clear storage bin provides
additional storage and slides forward for accessibility. The lower drawer comes equipped with a slide-out crisper drawer underneath a glass shelf that can be removed for the storage of taller items.

The CO2175DWR Combo® Drawer combines refrigeration, freezer space, and ice making capabilities. Reserved for refrigeration space, the upper drawer is modeled after the 2175DWRR Refrigerator Drawer and comes complete with the Slide & Divide tool and sliding storage bin to simplify organization. The ice making and freezer sections are located in the lower drawer. The ice maker produces up to 6 pounds a day and stores up to 10 pounds of ice.

Both the Refrigerator Drawer and Combo Drawer include new Touch Control digital technology that provides a refrigeration temperature reading and allows the homeowner to easily adjust the temperature as desired. Integrated door handles on black models provide a seamless finish to the drawer fronts while an elegant new door handle enhances the look of the stainless steel model. New flush grilles are recessed and finished to match the unit so that they are not noticeable. For those who prefer that appliances are integrated into the overall design of a room, black models will accept either a full overlay custom door panel or a 1/4-inch custom panel insert to match existing cabinetry.

U-Line’s 2175DWRWC Wine Captain® Drawer is the first drawer system designed and engineered for wine storage. The two-drawer model allows each drawer to maintain separate temperatures between 40 and 60 degrees Fahrenheit, providing the flexibility of different storage options. An innovative TouchSensorÔ control embedded in the glass drawer front provides a temperature reading for each drawer and allows one to change either or both temperature settings without opening a drawer and compromising the stable environment inside. When a drawer is opened, wine racks automatically cascade outward. Individual racks also slide completely forward for superior accessibility. Maple trimmed wine racks can be finished to match existing cabinetry or replaced with solid surface materials. Tinted, thermal-tempered glass drawer fronts protect wine from potentially harmful light. New flush grilles have been recessed and finished to match the model and integrate into the design.

Wine Captain Wine Storage Appliances
U-Line pioneered residential wine storage appliances in North America in 1985, and continues to lead the marketplace in innovation, technology and style. Traditional door front models offer
U-Line’s exclusive triple temperature zone technology, providing the flexibility of different storage options. At approximately 55 degrees, the upper section of the cabinet is ideal for red wines; the middle at approximately 50 degrees for whites; and the lower section at approximately 45 degrees for sparkling wines. The stable temperature environment is ideal for longer-term storage of any type of wine throughout the cabinet.

Échelon Series 2175WC Wine Captain and 2115WC Wine Captain wine storage systems provide cellar-like conditions in a showpiece appliance. New Touch Control digital technology allows the homeowner to adjust the middle temperature zone, check temperatures in all three zones, and illuminate the cabinet. New black interiors create a dramatic backdrop for showcasing and storing wine collections. Sliding wine racks provide smooth movement and easy accessibility to the wine collection. The natural maple fronts can be finished to match existing cabinetry or replaced with a solid surface material if the homeowner prefers. Integrated door handles on black models provide a seamless appearance, while the stainless steel model features a new contoured door handle. Redesigned flush grille fronts are recessed and finished in the same color as the unit making them virtually invisible.

If a homeowner prefers to integrate appliances with existing cabinetry, Wine Captain models 2175WCOL and 2115WCOL allow the glass door fronts to be outfitted with custom frames.

The 24-inch-wide, models 2175WC and 2175WCOL provide storage for up to 48 standard .75 liter bottles. At 15 inches wide, models 2115WC Wine Captain and 2115WCOL house up to 24 bottles.

The transformation of the Origin Series 1175WC Wine Captain and 1115WC Wine Captain models is most impressive. The once fixed, canted stainless steel wine racks are now sliding racks handsomely accented with wood overlays. The natural wood fronts can be stained to match existing cabinetry or replaced with a solid surface material. Wine racks slide outward effortlessly putting the bottles within arms reach. Like the traditional Echelon Series models,
U-Line’s triple temperature zone technology and stable environment provide safe storage of reds, whites and sparkling wines at their optimum serving temperatures. The new push button digital controller allows the homeowner to set the middle temperature zone, see readings for all three and illuminate the cabinet.

New stainless steel models feature seamless styling and the addition of a commercial-style vertical door handle. At 24 inches wide, the 1175WC Wine Captain holds up to 48 bottles. The 15-inch-wide 1115WC has a storage capacity of up to 24 bottles.

Beverage Center
The Origins Series 1175BEV Beverage Center makes entertaining and everyday life easier. The glass door front provides a clear view of the interior. Inside, two sliding, wood-trimmed wine racks provide storage for up to 16 bottles. The natural wood rack fronts can be stained to match existing cabinetry or replaced with a solid surface material. Two removable glass shelves accommodate up to 48 12-ounce bottles and 63 12-ounce cans. A new push button digital control unit makes seeing and setting the temperature easy.

U-Line Wine Captain® Product Line Protects Wine

State-of-the-art wine storage systems ensure stable temperature environments

MILWAUKEE - Grape variety, region of origin and vintage are all important characteristics of fine wines. But once bottled, the most critical factor for wine is proper storage and preservation. Without it, even the best bottle will be nothing more than a lingering disappointment.

"As interest in wine has grown in popularity, so has the demand for appliances that protect wine,” remarks Phil Uihlein, president and CEO of U-Line Corporation, leading innovator of premium wine storage units and built-in undercounter refrigeration appliances. “Consumers rely on wine storage products to provide safe and stable environments so they never have to worry about maintaining the integrity of their collections. U-Line understands this and is committed to developing the best technology for wine storage.”

The nuances of wine storage are many and can intimidate even experienced collectors. U-Line, pioneer in residential wine storage appliances since 1985, honed the science of storing wine and developed the most advanced product line available. U-Line’s complete Wine Captain® line takes the guesswork out of wine storage and assures wine enthusiasts that their collections are safeguarded by the most advanced technology.

With the broadest product collection available, including door front models and the first-ever drawer system, the Wine Captain® product is a showpiece appliance with substance. Designed and engineered to provide safe and versatile storage for all wines, multiple temperature zones
allow Wine Captain models to chill different varieties at their optimum serving temperatures in the same unit. In addition to providing a stable temperature environment, each model is vibration safe and maintains 50 percent relative humidity for short or longer term storage.

The Échelon Series Wine Captain
The Échelon Series Wine Captain is the most distinctive wine storage appliance available. Tinted, thermal-tempered glass doors provide a clear view of the contents while preventing harmful light rays from penetrating the cabinet. Black interiors create a dramatic backdrop for showcasing bottles. Sliding wine racks are accented with natural wood fronts that can be custom finished with stain to match existing cabinetry or replaced with a solid surface material.

Each traditional door front Wine Captain model is engineered with U-Line’s exclusive triple temperature zone technology. Three distinct temperature zones allow a homeowner to chill different wines at their optimum serving temperatures within a single unit. Red wines are stored in the upper section at approximately 55 degrees; white wines in the middle at approximately 50 degrees; and sparkling wines in the lower section at approximately 45 degrees. Within each zone, the Wine Captain maintains a stable temperature environment making it safe to store any wine throughout the entire cabinet. Touch Control Digital technology allows the homeowner to set one temperature zone and monitor all three.

The Échelon Series provides ample storage for wine collections. Model 2175WC measures 24-inches wide and stores 48 standard .75-liter bottles. At just 15-inches wide, model 2115WC is ideal for smaller spaces and collections up to 24 bottles. Both models are available in black or stainless steel. If a homeowner prefers to integrate appliances with existing cabinetry, models 2175WCOL and 2115WCOL allow the glass door fronts to be outfitted with custom frames.

The 2175DWRWC Wine Captain Drawer has many of the same distinctive features as the door front models. Tinted, thermal-tempered glass drawer fronts prevent harmful light from damaging the wine while providing a clear view of the racks inside. Open the drawers and the wine racks automatically cascade outward. Wood-trimmed rack fronts can be stained to match existing cabinetry or replaced with solid surface materials. The lower drawer features an attractive wine caddy that transfers up to three bottles of wine anywhere in the home. Together, the racks and caddy provide storage for 43 standard .75 liter bottles of wine.

Designed with two distinct temperature zones, the Wine Captain Drawer model also offers important storage options. By programming different temperature settings between 40 and 60 degrees for each drawer, different types of wine can be stored at their optimal serving temperatures in separate drawers. Like the other Wine Captain models, a stable environment also means that a variety of wines can be safely stored throughout both drawers. Innovative TouchSensor™ controls on the drawer front make setting and monitoring temperature easy.

The Origins Series Wine Captain
The evolution of U-Line’s two original Wine Captain models is most impressive. Tinted, thermal-tempered glass doors prevent harmful light from damaging wine and reveal the stylish interiors. Once fixed and canted, new wine racks slide out of the cabinet and are enhanced with wood fronts that can be custom finished with stain or replaced with solid surface materials. Stainless steel models feature a bold commercial-type handle that adds a strong visual element to the exterior. New push button digital controls allow the homeowner to easily set one temperature zone and monitor all three. The 24-inch-wide model 1175WC holds up to 48 standard bottles, while the 15-inch-wide model 1115WC offers a capacity of up to 24 bottles.
