How can I match the wood fronts of the wine racks to my surrounding cabinetry?
Providing the existing front as a template to your cabinet maker is one option to customize your U-Line product. Staining the wood front is also an option. If you choose to stain the wood fronts, they must be removed from each rack prior to staining and sealing and allowed to dry completely before reinstalling. The stain and sealant must be water based to avoid the odor associated with oil-based stains. Please see your User Guide for further instructions.
What are the differences between U-Line Clear Ice Machines and Crescent Ice Makers?
Crescent Ice Cubes:
The BI series and Combo® Model Ice Makers do not require a drain and produce crescent-shaped ice cubes that are 1/2" W x 3/4" H x 2 1/2" L.
Clear Ice Cubes:
Clear ice maker models produce cubes 7/8" W x 7/8" H x 7/8" L with an adjustable dimple on one side. Models offer the option to customize the fullness of your clear ice cubes. Clear ice machines can produce up to 60lbs of ice daily and require a drain.
How do I know if I need a pump?
Water may be drained from a U-Line Clear Ice Machine using either a gravity feed drain or a U-Line supplied P60 pump. You can purchase a unit with a pump already installed. If it is determined that a P60 pump is needed, and the unit you purchased does not have a P60, you can purchase the pump from a local dealer. We recommend checking with your local building/plumbing code to see if a pump is needed.
How much water is used to make ice?
Crescent Ice Makers use approximately 2 3/4 gallons of water to make approximately 22 pounds of ice. 100% of the water is used for ice and there is no waste. U-Line Clear Ice Machines which make clear, restaurant style cubes, use 1/2 gallon of water per pound of ice - less water than all other residential Clear Ice Makers in the industry.
Can you suspend ice production without turning off the unit?
Yes, all ice maker models can have the ice production suspended without turning off the unit. Ice production in models with digital controls can be turned off by pressing the appropriate commands as shown in your User Guide. In addition, ice maker models without a drain (BI and Combo models) have a bin arm that can be lifted up to a locked position to turn off the ice production. Remember to put the bin arm back down to resume ice production.
After a unit is first plugged in, how long should I wait until the temperature has stabilized?
We recommend 24 hours.

Can I use U-Line models in outdoor applications that are not indicated as suitable by UL listed for outdoor use? If so, how does it impact my warranty?
Only specific U-Line models are UL listed and deemed suitable for outdoor use. These models come with a specific outdoor warranty. U-Line’s Outdoor Series products have a full stainless wrap that protects from the elements.
In what temperature range can an outdoor unit be operated?
Our outdoor units are designed to operate in temperatures between 50°F - 100°F. In higher ambient temperatures, units with ice makers will make less ice, compressor run time increases, and it takes longer to cool product down.
How do I winterize my outdoor unit?
For Ice Makers and Ice Machines, if the ambient temperature is to drop below 50 degrees Fahrenheit, turn off and unplug the unit and drain all water from the unit to prevent freezing damage not covered by the warranty. For all U-Line Outdoor Series products, remove all consumable contents from the unit and disconnect the power cord from its outlet. Leave it disconnected until the unit is ready for use. Clean and dry the interior of the cabinet. During periods of nonuse, the cabinet must remain open. Door must be open a minimum of 2” (5 cm) to provide necessary ventilation.
Can a U-Line product be placed in a closet or behind closed doors?
No, never install behind closed doors. All built-in refrigeration products require proper front ventilation. The grille is located in the toe kick area, under the door, where heat escapes and fresh air enters the unit. This area must be unobstructed otherwise the unit will not properly cool and/or make ice. Airflow cannot accurately be measured if an individual wishes to put louvers in a solid door to enhance air circulation and therefore is not a recommended installation.
