MILWAUKEE (June 11, 2008) — One of today’s most popular kitchen design trends takes the indoors out, integrating commercial grade cooktops, natural stone countertops and stainless steel appliances with green grass, blue sky and fresh air.
U-Line Corporation, leading innovator of premium built-in, undercounter appliances, offers ice makers, refrigerators, and refrigerators with ice makers or freezers designed for the outdoors. Its premier Échelon Series line includes six stainless steel appliances deemed suitable by Underwriter’s Laboratories (UL) for outdoor use.
“The backyard is a true extension of our homes, a place where we live, work, entertain and relax,” explains Jennifer Uihlein, president of U-Line Corporation. “Today’s outdoor kitchen has transformed that space into a functional living area designed for comfort and convenience. Homeowners are incorporating all the amenities inside the home into their outdoor living spaces,” says Uihlein. “Ice makers, refrigerators and freezers keep drinks cold, food ready for the grill, and everyone together in one place.”
Each outdoor model features a full-wrap stainless steel body and door that weather the elements and add a sense of style to the backyard. Contoured vertical door handles enhance the exterior look, and can be interchanged with an optional commercial style door handle if preferred. Touch Control Digital Technology inside most models puts the ability to change or check temperature, adjust ice thickness, temporarily shut down ice production, and more right at the homeowner’s fingertips.
Outdoor Ice Makers
U-Line’s top-of-the-line ice maker is ideal for outdoor entertaining. The CLR2160 Clear Ice Maker boasts the most innovative and advanced technology available in clear ice-making design. The unit produces up to 60 pounds of clear ice cubes daily and has a 30-pound storage capacity. Even in outdoor conditions, the patented electronic control module automatically adjusts for changes in ambient air and water temperature to ensure consistency in maximum daily ice production and cube shape.
The BI-2115 Ice Maker uses less than three gallons of water to produce and store up to 25 pounds of crescent-shaped ice daily, and requires less electricity than a 75-watt light bulb.
Outdoor Combo® Ice Maker / Refrigerator
The CO2175FF Combo® produces up to 8 pounds of ice per day and also offers 4.2-cubic feet of refrigeration space. Exclusive interior features include fully encapsulated, contoured glass shelves that prevent spilling, two adjustable in-door shelves that can accommodate a 2-liter bottle, and a clear crisper drawer for additional storage possibilities.
Models 2175R and 2115R Refrigerators keep cold beverages within reach whether lounging poolside or tending to the grill. The 2175R measures 24-inches wide and provides 5.7 cubic feet of storage space for everything from beverages to food. Ideal for outdoor areas where space is at a premium, the 15-inch wide 2115R is equally functional with 3.3 cubic feet of space. Both feature fully encapsulated, contoured glass shelves and adjustable in-door storage shelves. The 2175R also provides a crisper drawer.
Model 2175RF accomplishes the seemingly impossible - chilling and freezing items outdoors. Providing 4.2 cubic feet of refrigeration capacity and 1.5 cubic foot of freezer space, it offers ample storage for all outdoor cooking and entertaining needs. The interior features include fully encapsulated, contoured glass shelves, adjustable in-door storage and a crisper drawer.
When designing an outdoor kitchen, homeowners should be aware that fluctuations in ambient air temperature and humidity may affect the ice production rates or general performance of outdoor appliances. U-Line recommends that its units be installed under a counter or shelter.
