MILWAUKEE (September 4, 2008) — Americans are drinking more wine than ever according to the Wine Market Council; an estimated 269 million cases in 2007, with adult per capita consumption at an all-time high of 3.02 gallons. And trends suggest that today’s wine enthusiasts are following their own inner sommelier, enjoying wine on their terms rather than those of wine experts.
“Just as the type of wine you choose to enjoy is a matter of personal preference, so is the manner in which you preserve and serve it,” states Jennifer Uihlein, president of U-Line Corporation, manufacturer of Wine Captain® wine preservation appliances. “U-Line offers the broadest assortment of wine preservation appliances with solutions for every wine enthusiast.”
In 1985, U-Line was the first North American manufacturer to introduce residential wine storage appliances. Today U-Line offers the most innovative and broadest line of premium undercounter wine preservation systems available. Multiple temperature zone technology in every model provides storage and preservation solutions for casual wine drinkers and collectors alike.
“There are many nuances to preserving and serving wine that can be intimidating,” remarks Uihlein. “The Wine Captain is designed to eliminate confusion by providing proper preservation conditions and preferred serving temperatures while also allowing individuals to select specific temperature settings based on personal preference so that their wine is always enjoyable.”
New Dual-Zone Wine Captain Cabinet
Introduced in April 2008, the Échelon Series 2275ZWC Dual-Zone Wine Captain Cabinet offers two highly specialized, independently refrigerated chambers. Both the upper and lower zones provide separate temperature control capabilities. New U-Select temperature technology allows individuals to customize the unit according to personal preference and changing needs. Four pre-programmed U-Select temperature settings provide ideal serving or preserving temperatures for red wine (55 degrees Fahrenheit), white wine (50 degrees), sparkling wine (45 degrees) and other beverages (38 degrees). If a specific temperature is preferred, each U-Select setting can be customized to the degree within an allowable range.
A digital display and touch control panel provides the temperature for each zone and puts the ability to select or change a setting right at your fingertips. The 24-inch-wide model provides storage for up to 43 standard .75 ml bottles.
Dual-Zone Wine Captain Drawer
U-Line’s Échelon Series 2275DWRW Dual-Zone Wine Captain Drawer transforms both style and technology. The 24-inch-wide two-drawer unit provides an exciting look along with the flexibility of two independent refrigeration systems. Each drawer can be set at any temperature from 40 to 60 degrees Fahrenheit creating the ideal environment for any type of wine. The Wine Captain Drawer offers storage for up to 43 bottles.
Triple Temperature Zone Technology
Since the introduction of its first Wine Captain model, U-Line has set the standard for wine preservation appliances with its exclusive triple temperature zone technology. With models spanning its Échelon Series and Origins Series collections, the Wine Captain is designed to maintain three distinct temperature zones to safely store red, white and sparkling wines together at their optimal serving temperatures.
Red wines are stored in the upper section at approximately 55 degrees; white wines in the middle at approximately 50 degrees; and sparkling wines in the lower section at approximately 45 degrees. Within each zone, the Wine Captain maintains a stable temperature environment making it safe to store any wine throughout the entire cabinet. Digital controls allow the homeowner to set the middle temperature zone and monitor all three. Models range in size from 24 inches wide to 15 inches wide and hold up to 48 or 24 bottles.
